Maresca argues that Chelsea needs to improve their ability to finish games

Manager Enzo Maresca stated that Chelsea needs to improve game management and learn how to handle pressure after Marc Cucurella was sent off during Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Brentford at home.

Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson scored as Chelsea closed the gap on leaders Liverpool to two points with their sixth straight league victory.
Cucurella was given a second yellow card after a confrontation with attacker Kevin Schade for “adopting an aggressive attitude,” but Chelsea lost to Brentford by a goal in the closing minute.

With 50 yellow cards this season, Chelsea topped the league.

“For sure the goal we concede, and the last part of the game, it is something we need to manage better,” said Maresca.

“I think it’s experience for the players to learn and to improve things.”However, given the team’s spirit, we are aware that it can occasionally occur. Although the second (yellow) one is perhaps not the best course of action, we still need to make improvements in these areas.”

Both in and out of possession, Cucurella’s contribution against Brentford was commended by the Italian.

Along with the other ten players, Cucurella was outstanding both on and off the ball. We are thrilled and content with Marc’s performance.

Joao Felix will be eligible for their Conference League game against Shamrock Rovers on Thursday, and Maresca stated that midfielder Romeo Lavia is anticipated to make his injury return for next Sunday’s trip to Everton.

He said that Benoit Badiashile, a defender, is probably going to miss time due to an injury he got during training.
