Drake is surpassed by Taylor Swift as the most decorated artist in the history of the Billboard Music Awards
This past Thursday night, Taylor Swift won the most awards at the Billboard Music Awards.
With “The Eras Tour,” the pop star just finished the highest-grossing tour of all time. At the party with lots of famous people at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, she won 10 more gifts.
Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Songwriter, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Billboard 200 Global Artist, Top Billboard Global (Exc. U.S.) Artist, and Top Streaming Songs Artist were some of the awards Taylor won.
Drake and Taylor were tied with 39 awards, but Taylor now has more than Drake, with 49. Drake won three more awards that night for Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist, and Top Rap Album for “For All the Dogs.”
Taylor thanked her fans and said that breaking records was the “nicest early birthday present.” The “Cruel Summer” singer turns 35 on Friday.
Swift wrote in a video message, “Thank you to the Billboard Awards.” Customers, thanks for your support; Billboard is keeping track of it.
“These are awards that are based on what you listen to and how much you love albums. I see them as fan-voted awards since you’re the ones who care about our albums and come see us perform.”
“I just have to say thank you for everything that has happened with The Eras Tour and The Tortured Poets Department,” she said next. It means so much to me that you guys like the things I’ve made, you know? As well as how much you care about my work.
You could not have given me a nicer early birthday present than this. Really appreciate it, thanks a lot. What I wanted is done.”
Megan Moroney, Jelly Roll, and Shaboozey all performed at the event, which was hosted by actor and comedian Michelle Buteau.
