Diddy complains about not having a laptop in incarcerated

Sean “Diddy” Combs has objected to the “untenable” laptop limitations imposed on him while he is incarcerated.

Currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn pending trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, the 55-year-old rapper’s legal team has written to a federal judge to express dissatisfaction over his inability to use a computer in his cell after his bail request was denied three times.

“We write on behalf of Mr. Combs to request that the Court direct the MDC to provide Mr. Combs with the laptop prepared for him by the government, and allow him to use that laptop on his unit, consistent with the way other inmates on his unit are permitted to use their laptops,” stated the letter, which was written by attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos and obtained by RadarOnline.com.

On November 25, 2024, two months after he was charged and placed under arrest, the government gave the MDC a laptop, which Mr. Combs can use to study information, take case-related notes, and perform other defense-related tasks.

“Despite multiple requests from defense counsel, Mr. Combs has yet to receive the laptop in the nine days since that time.”

The attorneys continued by claiming that there is “no justification” for the limitations, which limit their discussions and make it difficult for them to adequately prepare the “I’ll Be Missing You” hitmaker for his trial.

They went on: “These limitations are intolerable and, as far as we can tell, not necessary for any other prisoner on Mr. Combs’ unit.”

“They severely restrict the amount of time Mr. Combs can use the laptop and make him decide between using it and meeting with his lawyers, who frequently meet with him via video teleconference.”

The government has previously been accused by Combs’ team of attempting to monitor his handwritten notes.

Attorneys claimed that after investigators seized the disgraced hip-hop mogul’s cell, prosecutors had obtained attorney-client privileged material from it that lists defense witnesses and possible tactics, violating their clients’ Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment rights.

Diddy’s trial is scheduled for May 2025. He has refuted accusations of conspiracy to commit racketeering, transportation to engage in prostitution, and sex trafficking by force, deception, or compulsion.
