Kerry Washington receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Kerry Washington regrets not having “enjoyed” her ascent to stardom.
In honor of her 30-year career, the 47-year-old actress received a star on Monday’s Hollywood Walk of Fame. She acknowledged that she would just advise her younger self to quit worrying so much about the future.
“I would advise her to try to enjoy the journey and to have faith that everything will work out in the end,” she said on the US television program “Extra.” Just take a deep breath and be thankful for where you are in every moment. I believe that sometimes we worry so much about whether life will turn out the way we want it to.
The Emmy Award-winning actress, who rose to international fame as the lead in the ABC political drama series “Scandal,” added that her place on the tourist destination belongs to all of the directors and actors she has collaborated with, as well as her global fan base.
When I stand here and look at this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I know it’s only possible because of every director I’ve ever worked with, every actor I’ve been able to act across from, every fan who has watched, live-tweeted, streamed, or gone to a movie theater, and every crew member I’ve been able to work with,” she said. “I think this star is all of us as much as it is mine.” I truly look at this star and see so much love, support, and giving from so many people because we have all made this possible.
