Arteta claims that Amorim’s fingerprints are already on Manchester United
Ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League matchup with the Portuguese, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that Ruben Amorim has already left his mark on Manchester United.
After scoring 13 goals in their last three games, including a 5-1 thumping of Amorim’s old team Sporting in the Champions League, Arsenal is back in form as they take on United.
United will be a challenge to Arteta’s second-place team, which is nine points behind leaders Liverpool in the standings, after crushing Everton 4-0 in Amorim’s first Premier League home game over the weekend.
“His fingerprints are already evident in his preferred style of play. I believe he has been pretty clear about what he wants to achieve right now. With Sporting, he’s had great success,” Arteta told reporters on Tuesday.
“What he accomplished there after all these years is amazing, especially the manner he did it and the way his teams have been performing. He infuses the team, the players, and fresh ideas with vitality, which is always a good thing.
“We concentrate on ourselves. We have good momentum and are running well. The encounter against United will be spectacular and significant.
Even though Liverpool is now the overwhelming favorite to win the championship, Arteta stated that a number of teams around the top, including United, have the ability to catch up to Arne Slot’s team.
“The season is still very early. Any squad with the ability to win consistently has a shot. “I believe that everything is possible,” Arteta remarked.
For Wednesday’s match, Arsenal is worried about injuries to Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel, Mikel Merino, and Thomas Partey.
“This afternoon, we will be holding a meeting. After the training session, we will determine who will start and whether everyone is available and fit. We have also monitored and kept a few people away from specific exercises,” he stated.
Since the international break, Arsenal’s brilliant play has been largely attributed to forward Bukayo Saka. Arteta thinks he has elevated his game to a new level after he has already contributed 10 assists and five league goals this season.
“Yes, according to the numbers. There is a change from Bukayo every year. He’s becoming more reliable. He can only grow better and better. Arteta remarked, “He wants more.”
“His goals and assists are incredible at this stage of the season.”
