Hitmakers Harmonize and Konshens Join KJ Spio in “Messi,” a Genre-Blending Anthem

Ghanaian music powerhouse KJ Spio collaborated with Tanzanian Bongo artist Harmonize and Jamaican Dancehall legend Konshens to release “Messi,” an enticing hit and perfect party starter. The new single features catchy lyrics, beats that defy genres, and the distinctive styles of international superstars. With its message of avoiding needless turmoil and remaining focused on your own journey, “Messi” is sure to enthrall music fans around the continent.

The Grammy-winning Jamaican producer IzyBeats, who has produced songs for Jorja Smith, Rema, Koffee, Masego, Alicia Keys, and others, produced “Messi,” which begins with an enthralling percussion instrumental that skillfully combines Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Amapiano. Konshens and Harmonize collaborate to create a wheel-up-worthy anthem that flawlessly glides over the beat, each taking turns slathering the groove with their buttery vocals.

The lively vibe of the song is complemented by the brand-new music video. The video, which was directed by Lux London (who has worked with Tems, Central Cee, and Ice Spice) and shot in Toronto, Canada, follows the three of them as they play a fast-paced poker game that soon turns into a wild house party, reflecting the upbeat mood of the song. KJ Spio, Harmonize, and Konshens’ unmistakable synergy is captured in the graphics, which comically bring their cooperation to life. KJ Spio says of the project, “I am a huge fan of Konshens, and I knew that we could work together to create magic after working with Harmonize before.” Thus, I made contact, and the rest is history.

As KJ Spio explains, “Messi is a song that blends the biggest sounds in black music right now – Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Amapiano.” According to the statement, “I am all about creating a vibe that helps people have fun and enjoy themselves, whether they’re at a party or somewhere more intimate.” It is a fusion to pay homage to all those sounds and also music that has affected us all.

Harmonize says, “This track is a fusion of the trending music genres at their best,” expressing his pleasure about collaborating with Konshens and KJ Spio. Music is ubiquitous, spanning nations, genres, and borders. We all worked extremely well together, so it was a really smooth process,” he continued. “I have a lot of new music vibes coming up, and I’m really thrilled about a future collaborative project. Salutations to the globe!

Working with Harmonize and KJ Spio was easy, Konshens recalls. “We had a great time writing this cheeky tune and shooting the video,” he says. I adore the continent’s sounds and music, and I appreciate how our collaboration transcends genres. “As 2024 draws to a close, I hope our fans enjoy the song and dance away,” he continued. “I’ve been working on a solo project that is set to drop next year.” It will have a strong dancehall vibe and include other awesome musicians and noises.

The latest single from KJ Spio, who has released a number of unmatched songs with Sarkodie, Ambré, Oxlade, Harmonize, and Libianca, further solidifies his reputation as a must-see.
