Elton John has trouble seeing while at the premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada”

At the premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada,” Elton John talked about his fight with vision loss and praised the music.

Elton John said it was hard for him to watch his new show because an infection had made it hard for him to see.

The famous singer-songwriter went to London’s opening night of “The Devil Wears Prada” on Sunday and told the crowd, “I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I’ve lost my sight.”

“That being said, I find it hard to see it but love to hear it, and boy, did it sound good tonight.”

In September, John told me that an infection had drastically hurt his vision, leaving him with poor vision in one eye. In an Instagram post, he said, “I am healing, but it’s very slow, and it will be a while before my affected eye can see again.”

John wrote the music for the stage musical version of the 2006 movie “The Devil Wears Prada,” which is about a young reporter who has to deal with the glitzy and demanding world of a high-fashion magazine. In the London show at the Dominion Theatre, Vanessa Williams plays the tough editor Miranda Priestly, a part that Meryl Streep played in the movie.

Sunday’s gala was a fundraiser for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. It was attended by many famous people and fashion stars, such as Donatella Versace, the designer, and Anna Wintour, who used to be the editor of Vogue and is said to have influenced the Priestly character.
