Irene Ngendo, Miss Universe Kenya, steps down

Mukii was named Miss Grand Kenya in 2020.

On November 29, 2024, she thanked everyone who had backed her in a public message.

“Thank you to everyone who has shown assistance. Transformational leadership is still the major goal in order to uplift disadvantaged and underprivileged populations. I am enthusiastic about Inspire Revolution’s future.

“Through my platform, Inspirene Revolution, I remain dedicated to the impact agenda of community service towards my generation, and as such, I can only align with environments that share my values and work ethic in order to help achieve the agenda.” I’ve made the decision to notify the Miss Universe Kenya Organization of my termination after giving it some thought. I’ll keep collaborating with you for the sake of our people.

Mukii represented her nation at the Miss Grand International 2020 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand, after winning the title of Miss Grand Kenya in 2020. She finished in the Top 20.

Out of 15 competitors, Mukii was named Miss Universe Kenya 2024 on August 16, 2024, at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi.

Mukii was one of the top seven African and Oceanian contenders in the first week of the 2024 Miss Universe Pageant.
Despite this success, she received backlash, especially for her wardrobe selections.

In a recent Instagram post, Mukii responded to the criticism by expressing her admiration for Kenyan culture and the meaning behind one of her ensembles, which honored the nation’s long-distance running ability by showcasing the faces of famous athletes.

She wrote in her caption:

“The time we’ve all been anticipating has finally arrived! Through her amazing national costume, Miss Universe Kenya @irene_mukii has made us proud by showing our rich running culture and worldwide tradition of marathon greatness.”

She continued: “As the finals are upon us, let’s rally behind @irene_mukii and show the world the unbreakable spirit of Kenya.”

Mukii’s appeal for solidarity and pride in Kenya’s worldwide sporting legacy serves as a reminder of the advantages of cultural representation on a global scale.
