The 2024 Golden Boy Award goes to Yamal

Lamine Yamal, a player for Barcelona, won the 2024 Golden Boy award on Wednesday. He helped Spain win Euro 2024, which was the highlight of his year.

An Italian sports newspaper called Tuttosport says that Yamal is the youngest winner of the award in its history.

The award is given to European players under 21 years old, and Yamal was chosen ahead of Warren Zaire-Emery of Paris St. Germain and Arda Guler of Real Madrid.

Yamal scored the game-winning goal in the semi-final win over France in Germany, making him the youngest player to play in the finals and the youngest player to score in the tournament. He was named the Young Player of Euro 2024.

He was the youngest player to win the Euros when Spain beat England 2-1 in the final.

He also won the Kopa Trophy as the best player in the world under 21 years old at the Ballon d’Or ceremony last month, coming in seventh overall.

Yamal grew up in Barcelona’s La Masia school, just like Lionel Messi. He has continued to play very well this season, hitting five goals in 12 league games for the league leaders.

Last season, the award went to Jude Bellingham of England and Real Madrid. Other winners include Wayne Rooney, who used to play offensively for England, and Kylian Mbappe of France.

Yusuf is the fourth player from Barcelona to win the award, following Gavi, Pedri, and Messi.

Vicky Lopez, an offensive player for Barcelona who is 18 years old, was named the Golden Girl.
