Tesla Cybertruck Blaze Kills Three in Northern California

A Tesla Cybertruck fell and caught fire in Northern California, killing three and hurting one.

Authorities say that three people died and one was seriously hurt when a Tesla Cybertruck crashed and caught fire in Northern California early Wednesday morning.

At about 3:10 a.m., the people inside the Cybertruck were coming back from an unknown event. Chief Bowers refused to say anything else about what happened. Another guest, who was in a different car, was able to get the victim out of the Cybertruck alive.

Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers said that the single-car mishap was probably caused by going too fast. But he made it clear that all the factors that led up to the event were still being looked into as part of an ongoing probe.

Police officers who arrived on the scene couldn’t put out the fire with their own tools, but the fire department quickly put it out. Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan said that the fires went out quickly, which made it seem unlikely that the Cybertruck’s big lithium-ion battery had caught fire. He said that what happened was “a normal car fire.”

Chief Bowers said, in response to worries about the recent Cybertruck recalls, “There’s no indication that mechanical effects were the main cause of the collision.”

The Cybertruck has been on the market for about a year and has been recalled six times because of safety issues. As of November 5, the most current one fixed a problem with an electric generator that could make the drive wheels lose power.
