Suns and Kevin Durant plan to sign a $120M deal at the end of the season
Mat Ishbia, the owner of the Phoenix Suns, says he will offer Kevin Durant a $120 million contract this summer. He said this after saying that the two sides skipped the qualified one-year deal in July.
Ishbia told ESPN that both sides are interested in a deal that would help them reach their goal of having the 14-time NBA All-Star retire with the team.
He told ESPN, “Durant loves being in Phoenix, and we love having him.” “He has had a great start to the season and is one of the MVP favorites. We’re also off to a great start.” Kevin is likely to sign a new deal and stay with us for a long time. We hope he ends his work life in Phoenix. The NBA rules say that you can’t sign a two-year contract like you did last summer. We thought we’d talk about it and take care of it after the season.
“Kevin wants to be here, and so do we.” No one has ever complained about something else.
Durant’s current deal ends at the end of the 2025–26 season. Devin Booker, an All-Star guard, got a new four-year, $220 million deal to stay in Phoenix. He is currently in the first season of the new deal.
Durant has been out with a leg injury for the past six games and will not play for the Suns again. Phoenix is 1-5 without Durant after going 8-1 to start the season.
Durant, 36, scores 27.6 points, grabs 6.6 rebounds, and gives out 3.4 assists per game this season.
