Giants look at moving Daniel Jones to quarterback 4

The New York Giants are thinking about resting Daniel Jones and using Tim Boyle as a third-string quarterback in case of an emergency.

On Wednesday, Boyle, who was added to the Giants’ practice squad on Tuesday, played more snaps than Jones. According to sources, head coach Brian Daboll hasn’t chosen yet if Jones or Boyle will be QB3 this week.

Monday, Daboll said that Tommy DeVito would start for the Giants (2-8) against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Drew Lock would be his backup, and Jones would be moved to the third string.

Jones is offering a $23 million injury guarantee if he gets hurt while playing. There are a lot of signs that Jones has played his last game for the Giants.

So far this season, Jones has completed 63.3 percent of his passes, completing 2,070 yards and throwing eight scores against seven picks. He is 27 years old and is in the second year of a $160 million, four-year deal. According to the contract, he will make $30 million a year in 2025, with $12 million guaranteed on the fifth day of the league season.

The 30-year-old Boyle has played in 22 games and has a 0-5 record as a starter. There have been 12 picks and 1,087 yards made by him.
