The son of the Norwegian Crown Princess was arrested on rape charges after several investigations

Marius Borg Høiby, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway’s stepson and 27-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of rape. This is the latest legal problems he has been in. Høiby is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, but he does not have a royal title or official tasks.

Norwegian police stated on Tuesday that Høiby has been charged with having a sexual relationship with “someone who is unconscious or for some other reason is unable to resist the act.” Police said the charge is for a sexual act “without intercourse” and that the victim “was said to have been unable to resist the act.”

Local news sources say that Høiby has rejected the rape claim.

Høiby was caught on Monday night at 23:12 CET while in a car with a victim in a different case. He is already facing multiple charges for crimes against four other people.

Høiby is being charged with violence and illegal damage for the event involving the person in the car, which happened on August 4.

Police said on Tuesday that these charges had been upgraded to include “maltreatment” in close relationships and a second breaking of a protection order against the same victim. Høiby has also been charged with driving without a license.

Police also said that Høiby’s home in Skaugum, which is the official home of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, had been searched as part of the probe.

Juliane Snekkestad and Nora Haukland, two of Høiby’s ex-girlfriends, have accused him of abusing them, and he is also being accused of frightening a man.

So far, the Norwegian Royal Palace has not said anything about Høiby’s latest arrest or the rising list of charges against him.
