Mike Tyson Says This Year He “Almost Died”

The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion lost a controversial comeback fight to Jake Paul on Friday night (15.11.24), but he said he had “no regrets” and wasn’t too down about it because he thought he was fit enough to fight again after an ulcer had to push back the fight from July to November.

On Saturday, November 16, 24 he wrote on X, “This is one of those times when you lost but still won.” I’m thankful for last night. It’s okay to get in the ring one last time.

“In June, I almost died.” Had eight blood transfusions. I had to fight to get fit so I could fight, and I won. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital.

It would be an honor for my kids to see me fight and win 8 rounds against a skilled fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys stadium. No one else could ask for that. It means “thank you” in English.

Jake, who is 27 years old, was quick to back up his opponent.

“Love you, Mike,” he said. It was an honor. Our whole group looks up to you.(sic)”

The social media star said after the fight that he had been easy on Mike because he “didn’t want to hurt” him. He also said that he didn’t try to knock Mike out when he saw that Mike was having a hard time in the ring.
