Diddy Confronts Fresh Allegations of Witness Tampering as 2025 Trial Approaches

Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs is scheduled to stand trial in 2025 on charges related to racketeering and sex trafficking. Federal prosecutors allege that he attempted to influence witnesses while in custody.

A motion filed on 15 November alleges that Combs engaged in “relentless efforts” to reach out to potential witnesses to “corruptly influence” their testimony.

Prosecutors assert that Combs bypassed established communication protocols by utilizing other inmates’ telephone accounts for calls rather than adhering to his authorized contact list. Furthermore, he reportedly attempted to conceal his communication efforts by utilizing third-party services and participating in three-way calls to connect with others.

The actions detailed in court documents represent a violation of Bureau of Prisons regulations. Combs is additionally alleged to have instructed his family to contact potential witnesses on his behalf. Prosecutors cited a phone conversation between Combs and one of his sons as evidence, implying that the rapper sought to “blackmail victims and witnesses into silence or to influence testimony in his favor.”

Prosecutors further assert that Combs has been utilizing social media platforms to possibly sway a jury pool prior to his trial. The factors that contributed to the denial of his bail included his history of violence, substance abuse, and previous concerns regarding witness tampering. Consequently, he continues to be held in federal custody in Manhattan.

Combs is confronted with a range of grave accusations, including several claims of sexual assault, with some involving minors. He faced arrest on allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering, and if found guilty, he could be sentenced to life in prison.

In October, it was revealed that more than 100 individuals, including many children, had stepped forward to allege rape, sexual assault, and exploitation by Combs, with a significant number intending to file lawsuits.

The rapper’s legal team has firmly rejected all allegations, describing them as “false and defamatory,” according to a report by the BBC.
