Sean “Diddy” Combs has asked for bail again

The 55-year-old rapper is in jail in New York City after being charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. But earlier this month, his lawyers filed a new motion to request bail, saying that new evidence supports his release before his trial.

In Combs’ most recent move for bail, which PEOPLE saw, his lawyers said that the prosecution’s case was “thin.”

In addition, the lawyers have questioned the importance of a 2016 CCTV video that shows the music mogul beating up a woman in a Los Angeles hotel.

In the document, Combs’ lawyers say, “The video is not proof of a forced ‘freak off.’ Instead, it is a minutes-long glimpse into a complicated but decade-long consenting relationship between Mr. Combs and Victim 1.”

The charges against Combs are not true, and he has already been turned down for bail by two different federal courts. His lawyers, on the other hand, say that their most recent plan is “far more robust than the previous” one.

Combs’ lawyers had asked that the rapper be released on bond while he was waiting for his trial, as long as he paid $50 million.

But after lawyers spent a long time arguing about whether Combs was a flight risk, Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky said that the rap star would stay in jail until his trial starts.

Later, his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said that the singer is set on “establishing his innocence.”

“He’s going to fight this,” Agnifilo told the press. He’s not guilty. He went to New York to prove that he was innocent.

“We have full faith in him.” These things he didn’t do. There is neither force nor evil.
