A teen is arrested after two shootings in Orlando leave two people dead

Two people died and six were hurt in killings in Orlando on Halloween, which led to the arrest of a teenage suspect.

Authorities say that two people have died and six others have been hurt in shootings that happened in Orlando early Friday morning during Halloween celebrations.

A little after 1 a.m., police heard gunshots in the downtown area. A short time later, there was a second incident close to the officers who were already there, which led to an arrest right away, as Police Chief Eric Smith explained in a meeting on Friday morning.

The six hurt people, whose ages range from 19 to 39, were taken to the hospital for treatment and are now in stable condition, Smith stated. A male suspect aged 17 has been caught. Smith showed video from both street security cameras and police body cameras that showed the killings and the arrest that followed at the scene of the second incident.

After the first shooting, police quickly shared a description of the suspect based on security video. However, Smith explained, the second shooting happened close to officers, who saw it happen for themselves.

Smith said, “He was going to shoot no matter what his thoughts were.”

Smith says that more than 100 police officers were on patrol to keep an eye on the crowd of between 50,000 and 100,000 people who were enjoying Halloween on Thursday night and into the early hours of Friday morning.

Andrew Baine, the Florida State Attorney, said that the teen suspect could be charged as an adult, but his office will wait for more information from the police probe.
