The Global Icon Award will be given to Busta Rhymes at the 2024 MTV EMAs.

The hip-hop artist will also perform a medley of his biggest hits at Manchester’s Co-Op Live hall on November 10. The set list will include the hit song “Do The BusABus Pt.2.”

The star, whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr. and is 52 years old, said, “I am so honored and thankful to receive the MTV EMA Global Icon Award.” This award is a celebration of both my work and Hip-Hop culture as a whole. Being recognized on this world stage reminds me that hip hop has no limits, and neither do I. Because GOOD THINGS KEEP COMING!”

Since his first solo record, “The Coming,” came out in 1996 and included the hits “Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check” and “It’s a Party.” The busy rapper has since put out 10 more solo albums, with “Blockbusta” being the most recent.

His 12th book, “Dragon Season,” will come out on November 29.

It all began for Busta with the East Coast group Leaders of the New School. He has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards and is seen as one of the best hip-hop acts of all time.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, a synth-pop pair from the 1980s, will receive the Pop Pioneers Award at the awards show, which also marks their 40th year in music. They will also perform on stage with a well-known local orchestra.
