Diego Chara signs a deal to play for the Timbers for a 15th season

The Portland Timbers said that Diego Chara signed a deal that keeps him with the team until the end of the 2025 season and gives them the chance to keep him on until 2026.

Chara will be with the Timbers for 15 years next season. He has played in 399 games and 34,636 minutes, which are the most in club history.

Chara, 38, has scored 12 goals and set up 34 others since his first MLS game with Portland in 2011.

Chara was an All-Star in 2019 and was picked for the MLS Best XI in 2020. He helped Portland win the MLS Cup in 2015.

Based on statistics from the MLS Players Association, Chara made $500,000 a year in 2024.
