Lupita Nyong’o talks about Reese Witherspoon’s lifestyle advice
Reese Witherspoon gave Lupita Nyong’o some “very practical” tips about how to live her life.
In an email chain, the “12 Years a Slave” star said that fellow actress Reese gave her a good piece of advice: always be the first to write. This makes sure that other people “take you seriously.”
“The best piece of life advice I’ve received from another woman…” she said in a video for Harper’s Bazaar. This is very, very useful. Reese Witherspoon told me that I should always answer group texts first.
“I agree, that’s good advice because it makes people take you seriously because you answer quickly.” I do my best.
Lupita then said that she feels like “administrative work” like returning emails drains her “vitality,” which is why she makes time for herself to be creative.
“There’s so much on our plates today,” she said. “For me, there’s a lot of paperwork to do, emails to answer, and dishes in the sink!” All of that can make me feel tired and weak as well.
“Well, for me, I have to protect my talent, make time for it, and be very intentional about it… It helps me be creative when I’m in the shower.
She also said that she has to work hard to keep her confidence high. “It’s not something you have one day and then have it forever,” she said. It’s important to keep your confidence living, taut, and in play because it will always be put to the test.
Finally, Lupita gave her own piece of life advice: she said to stop worrying about the future and live in the moment.
“Your life is being lived now, so enjoy it while you have it,” she said.
