CNN fires guest for making racist comments about a Muslim reporter on air

CNN said it was sorry for the racist comments a conservative analyst made about a Muslim journalist on show and banned the commentator from the network.

Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s speech at Madison Square Garden over the weekend was talked about late Monday night. Trump fan and panelist Ryan Girdusky told Muslim journalist Mehdi Hasan, “Well, I hope your beeper doesn’t go off.”

The comments, which got tens of millions of views online, seemed to be about Israeli attacks in Lebanon on the radios and pagers of the terrorist group Hezbollah. At one point, Hasan said that he supported the Palestinians.

Since Israel’s wars in Gaza and Lebanon started after an attack by Palestinian Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, rights activists have heard more threats and hateful speech directed at American Muslims, Arabs, and Jews.

After what happened, CNN host Abby Philip told Hasan she was sorry. CNN said in a separate statement, “There is no room for racism or bigotry at CNN or on our air.” “Ryan Girdusky will not be welcomed back at our network,” it stated.

Girdusky said sorry for what he said on radio, but he also said it was a joke on social media to explain himself.

“You can stay on CNN if you falsely call every Republican a Nazi and have taken money from Qatar-funded media,” said Girdusky. “Apparently you can’t go on CNN if you make a joke.”
