Kamala Harris said that Trump’s discussions with Netanyahu don’t worry her

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris reaffirmed her stance on the Middle East crisis on Sunday, saying she was not worried about an upcoming meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former President Donald Trump.

The U.S. presidential election on November 5th will see a close contest between Democratic presidential candidate Harris and Republican Trump.

“No,” Harris responded when asked if dialogue between Trump and Netanyahu may jeopardize the goals of the present U.S. government.

In recent weeks, Trump and Netanyahu have had a few conversations. When Trump was president, they were close because the U.S. relocated its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which angered Palestinians and thrilled Israelis.

“I do believe that it is critically important that we as the United States of America be an active participant in encouraging one, that this war ends, that we get the hostages out but also that there is a real commitment among nations to a two-state solution and the ‘day after’ (in Gaza),” Harris told the press on Sunday.

Following the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas, which precipitated the most recent wave of violence in the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict, President Joe Biden has backed Israel in its conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. Trump and Harris have promised to keep America’s assistance for its friend intact.

Approximately 1,200 people were slain and almost 250 were held captive in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack, according to Israeli estimates. About 43,000 people have been murdered in Israel’s following attack on Hamas-controlled Gaza, the health ministry of Gaza reports. Almost everyone in Gaza has been displaced, there is a food crisis, and Israel is facing accusations of genocide before the World Court, which it rejects.

In its independent operations in Lebanon, Israel has murdered more than 2,500 people and displaced more than a million. After a year of cross-border firefights with Israel, Israel claims it is targeting Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.
