Russia will place North Korean troops in fighting zones on October 27 and 28, according to Zelenskiy

Citing intelligence inputs, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated on Friday that Russia intends to send North Korean troops to the battlefield beginning on October 27–28.

“Intelligence indicates that Russia may send the first North Korean troops to battle areas as early as October 27 or 28. Following reports from his top commander, Zelenskiy stated on X that “Russia has clearly escalated this.”

Zelenskiy did not provide any information, including the frontline sector to which North Korean soldiers are anticipated to be deployed.

The first North Korean battalions have already been spotted near Russia’s Kursk border region, where Ukrainian armed forces have been stationed since launching a significant invasion in August, Ukrainian military intelligence stated Thursday.

According to the report, there were already some 12,000 North Korean soldiers in Russia, including 500 officers and three generals, and five military locations were being used for training.

South Korean MPs said roughly 3,000 soldiers had been sent to help the Kremlin’s conflict in Ukraine, with more to come. The United States stated it had seen proof of North Korean forces in Russia.

The implementation of a partnership pact with Pyongyang, which he said includes a mutual assistance clause enabling both sides to aid the other in fending against external aggression, is Moscow’s responsibility, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Thursday.

The presence of North Korean personnel in Russia was acknowledged by Putin. His words were, “This is our business,”

According to Western partners, becoming involved in the crisis in Ukraine would be a significant escalation. According to Zelenskiy, that is insufficient.

“North Korea’s actual involvement in combat should not be met with indifference or uncertain commentary, but with tangible pressure on both Moscow and Pyongyang,” he stated.

Prosecutors in Ukraine announced Friday that they had opened an investigation into North Korea’s wartime assistance to Russia as a potential crime of aggression.
