Elon Musk Increases Election Support by Contributing $44 Million to a Pro-Trump Super PAC
Elon Musk has contributed an extra $44 million to his super PAC in support of Trump’s campaign.
According to federal papers made public Thursday, Elon Musk increased his financial support for the Republican candidate ahead of the November 5 election by contributing almost $44 million to his pro-Trump political action group in early October.
In the same time frame, America PAC, which concentrates on energizing voters in crucial swing states, disclosed spending more than $47 million. Musk’s super PAC greatly strengthens the Trump campaign, which depends on outside assistance to engage voters, highlighting his power in what is expected to be a fiercely contested election against Vice President Kamala Harris.
This most recent contribution comes after it was previously revealed that Musk gave over $75 million to his America PAC between July and September.
During the first half of October, Trump’s team spent more than $88 million on advertising, leaving $36 million for the remaining months of the campaign. According to a separate Federal Election Commission filing, donations made during this time period increased the campaign’s finances by an additional $16 million.
Early in October, the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, who has recently surpassed Trump in terms of both fundraising and spending, spent more than $130 million on advertisements. As of October 16, the campaign had raised $97 million and had a balance of $119 million.
Musk reportedly gave $2.3 million to the Sentinel Action Fund, another conservative PAC. Musk has joined a small group of well-known Republican donors, such as Timothy Mellon and Miriam Adelson, with these big contributions.
America PAC, which is restricted to voters in crucial battleground states, has instituted a contentious $1 million daily prize draw for those who sign its online petition in an effort to increase support for Trump. Although legal experts disagree on whether Musk’s actions could violate laws governing financed voter registration campaigns, CNN claimed that the Justice Department warned America PAC that the handouts might violate federal law.
