If titles are taken away from Man City, Mourinho wants the winner’s medal and bonus

If Manchester City loses their crowns and rivals Manchester United win the Premier League trophy for the 2017–18 campaign, Jose Mourinho cheekily stated that he hopes to add a fourth Premier League medal to his glistening cabinet.

Three-time Chelsea champion Mourinho led United to a second-place finish that season, 19 points behind Pep Guardiola’s record-breaking team and behind City.~

With the different charges spanning from 2009 to 2018, City, who had won the English crown a record four times in a row, were sent to an independent commission in February 2023. They have consistently denied any misconduct.

If City is found guilty of any or all of the offenses, they may be subject to fines, points deductions, title revocation, or even a drop from the top division.

“We placed second in the Premier League and won the Europa League. Before their Europa title matchup with United, Fenerbahce manager Mourinho told reporters, “I think we still have a chance to win that league.”

Maybe they remove points from Manchester City, and we might win that league. They must award me the medal and pay me the bonus.

After a dismal run of results, Mourinho was fired in December 2018 despite being the first manager since Alex Ferguson’s final season in 2012–13 to get United this close to winning the league title again.

Ferguson, United’s most successful manager, is scheduled to resign as a worldwide ambassador after his multi-million-pound contract with the club’s part-owners, INEOS, expired. However, Mourinho stated that the 82-year-old did not require the role or the funding.

“The role of ambassador… I don’t really understand the circumstances. What (occurred) and why are irrelevant. The love and admiration of every Man United supporter worldwide is what Sir Alex has most of all,” Mourinho remarked.

“That is more important than an ambassadorial role, it is more important than a few pounds that he can make that he doesn’t need.”
