Inzaghi of Inter is worried about Young Boys’ artificial field

As he assesses the midfield injury situation, Simone Inzaghi cautions that the artificial turf “clearly does make a big difference” for Inter’s Champions League match against Young Boys tomorrow.

It begins on Wednesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT) at the Stadion Wankdorf.

After defeating Crvena Zvezda 4-0 at San Siro and securing a 0-0 draw away to Manchester City, the Nerazzurri have enjoyed a successful start to their European campaign.

Although they haven’t given up a goal yet, their impending Serie A matchup with Juventus this weekend may pose the greatest threat.

Inzaghi reassured reporters at his press conference, “We know that we have to take it one game at a time, so that won’t be a risk.”

“We need to be cautious because the Young Boys had some issues at first, but they defeated Luzern on Sunday.”

Another problem is the stadium’s artificial turf, which can cause more injuries and make the ball bounce awkwardly for people who aren’t used to it.

It is obvious that there is a significant difference and that it is not the same as playing on grass. In order to get ready for it, we made the decision to alter some of our routines and spend an hour on artificial grass.

Hakan Calhanoglu, Francesco Acerbi, and Alessandro Bastoni hobbled off the Serie A triumph over Roma on Sunday, while Piotr Zielinski and Kristjan Asllani were absent.

“There is very little squad rotation. I think Zielinski can play tomorrow, but I need to assess the training session today.

“I’m assessing Bastoni and Federico Dimarco together.”

Could Italy’s Nicolò Barella replace Calhanoglu as a playmaker now that injuries have limited the midfield options?

“Like with Lecce or Udinese last season, I am happy with Barella’s performance against Roma. Tomorrow, either Barella or Zielinski will fill that function, followed by Davide Frattesi and perhaps a few more, Inzaghi said.

Goalie Yann Sommer, who resigned from international service this season, is returning to Switzerland.

“Having him join us for additional training sessions is beneficial. I have nothing but praise for Sommer; we got a fantastic goalie and a terrific man.
