Irish Prime Minister Verifies This Year’s Election

Prime Minister Simon Harris announced on Monday that Ireland will have a general election this year, with the date of the voting to be determined once the government approves several last-minute bills.

Although Harris has until March to cast his ballot, economists have long predicted that November is the most likely date because that is when voters will begin to reap the benefits of the 10.5 billion euro budget gift brought about by Europe’s strongest public finances.

“This year, there will be a general election. “The government will wrap up its work, and it will do so in a systematic way,” Harris stated during a press conference.

Harris reaffirmed that before he tries to dissolve parliament, legislation, including passing the budget, must be passed. Since taking office in April, Harris’ Fine Gael party has risen in surveys.

Nov. 29 has been suggested as the polling date by the leader of the Green Party, the junior coalition.
