According to Angel Reese, her WNBA salary is insufficient to cover her rent

“That WNBA check don’t pay a thing,” she stated.

Angel Reese has become one of the WNBA’s most popular names in a short period of time, and her fame has given her many chances outside of her favorite sport. The well-known athlete recently revealed that her WBNA salary does not “pay her bills” at the moment, therefore she uses her side projects to help finance her lifestyle.

Reese humorously urged her detractors to continue hating while on Instagram Live, saying that “hating pays the bills.” She continued by explaining that her primary costs, such rent, are not covered by her job on the Chicago Sky.

“Baby, hate pays their bills. She remarked, “I just hope you know that the WNBA doesn’t pay my bills at all.” “I doubt that even covers one of my expenses. I’m literally trying to figure out how much my rent for my place is. Let me quickly do the numbers. Even my [WNBA] salary is unknown to me. $74,000?

The LSU alumnus joked, “I’m living above my means!” after her friend verified that Reese’s salary does not cover her $8,000 rent. Watch the video above.

“If you all thought, baby… That check from the WNBA doesn’t pay anything. Was my car note even paid off by that? With that, I couldn’t even eat a sandwich. I wouldn’t be able to eat at all. I couldn’t survive,” she continued.

Reese is able to augment her WNBA revenue through a variety of side projects in addition to rich endorsements; her most recent venture is the Unapologetically Angel podcast. Latto, Mariah the Scientist, Kayla Nicole, Dwyane Wade, and others have appeared in episodes of the show, which she debuted in September 2024.

However, given that Reese was recently included in Sports Illustrated’s list of the 50 Most Influential Athletes of 2024, it appears that her reputation in the league will only grow. This season, the 22-year-old has garnered attention for her outstanding play, which includes breaking the league record for the most straight double-doubles.

The Chicago Sky forward also became the first rookie on any American professional basketball club to post back-to-back 20-rebound games since NBA great Shaquille O’Neal did so in 1993, and he shattered the WNBA single-season rebounding record.
