Dutch club claims that PSV supporters were banned from the PSG match by French officials
Due to prior disruptions, PSV Eindhoven supporters have been barred by French officials from attending this month’s Champions League match against Paris St-Germain, the Dutch team announced.
2,000 of PSV’s supporters who had already bought tickets for the match on October 22 will receive a refund, the team said in a statement on Monday, adding that the decision was unexpected.
The Eredivisie team went on to say, “PSV supporters are not allowed to travel to or from Paris.”
“Despite the fact that PSV had no penalties outstanding, French police are citing past disturbances with supporters … there are also some domestic security issues at play.”
Last October, during a 1-1 draw, supporters of PSV and RC Lens flung objects at one another. Following crowd unrest during a 1-0 loss to Arsenal in 2022, the Dutch team was also mandated to play one European match without its away supporters.
PSG has three points from two Champions League games, while PSV has just one.
