Aoki Lee Simmons Says She Will Give Up Modeling

After being told she is not “pretty enough,” Aoki Lee Simmons is leaving the modeling industry.

The 22-year-old celebrity, the daughter of Kimora Lee Simmons and Russell Simmons, has a passion for the fashion industry but has been more irritated at being passed over and viewed negatively in comparison to her mother, a former Chanel model.

In a video that she posted to Instagram, she stated: “I think I’m probably wrapping up modeling soon.”

“I adore modeling, but it’s not enjoyable to go somewhere and be told repeatedly, ‘No, no, no, you’re not pretty enough.'” It’s a challenging industry.

“It feels like one big fat comparison all the time,” she continued, referring to her mother. As in, “Okay, not so great.” I understand.

“My mother will always be a far superior model to me. However, sometimes that comparison is just unpleasant.

“I am not in need of a coach. I make a good model. I realize that sounds arrogant, but it’s not. I put a lot of effort into it. However, it’s simply It’s a challenging industry. Many lovely, wonderful girls who are excellent models but are unemployed exist.

Aoki promised to “end with dignity,” a lesson she had picked up from Kimora, but she is already planning for the future.

Since my degree is in government employment, she stated: “I think I’m going to switch back to working in government.”

“I’m getting a job in my field of study, but I should try my hardest while I’m still here,” I hope it doesn’t come across as whiny.

Although her mother has given her a lot of “helpful advice” on modeling, Aoki has acknowledged that she appreciated that she had also given her space.

“My mom literally tried to coach me while I walked down the runway during [my first] Sergio Hudson show,” she said in an interview with Us Weekly magazine. “SHOULDERS!” she shouted as I passed by.

My mother has given me a lot of good advice since I began my work, but I also value the freedom she has allowed me to pursue my own interests. She’s letting me work it out.
