Diddy’s sex trafficking trial is scheduled for May 2025

In May 2025, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will be subjected to a sex trafficking trial.

The 54-year-old rapper was apprehended in New York last month and is currently incarcerated as he awaits trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He was denied bond and is currently in custody. Forbes reports that Judge Arun Subramanian has scheduled a pretrial hearing for May 5, 2025.

The singer of “I’ll Be Missing You” made his first court appearance on Thursday since his arrest. He has the following children from various relationships: Quincy, 33, Justin, 30, Christian, 26, Chance, 18, twins D’Lila and Jessie, 17, and 23-month-old Love Sean. According to the outlet, his mother Janice and his children were observed at the courthouse.

Alexander A.E. Shapiro, Combs’ attorney, submitted documents to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit the day prior to his scheduled court date, requesting that Combs be released until his case is resolved.

PEOPLE obtained the documents, which were submitted on Tuesday (08.10.24). The documents indicate that “[Combs] was not released pending trial, despite his offer to comply with restrictive conditions that would have prevented any conceivable risk of flight or danger.” [The court] declined to approve a bail arrangement that was evidently adequate… [and] failed to fulfill its obligations under the Bail Reform Act…

“Mr. Combs is presumed innocent.” He traveled to New York to surrender, as he was aware that he would be indicted. He took extraordinary measures to demonstrate that he intended to confront and contest the allegations, rather than flee.

“He submitted a bail package that would clearly prevent him from contacting any witnesses or posing a threat to anyone.” Detention prior to trial or without trial is the carefully limited exception, while liberty is the norm under the Bail Reform Act.

Combs has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges of extortion conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He is presently being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center after his bail of $50 million was denied.

The star was initially denied parole on September 17, and his team promptly submitted an appeal. However, his second attempt to secure bail was also denied on September 18, one day later.
