Premier League and Man City are happy with the panel’s decision on marketing deals

Manchester City and the Premier League were happy with the decision made by a review panel on Monday. The panel looked into claims that the English club broke the league’s rules on Associated Party Transactions (APT).

The panel said that some of the Premier League’s rules on APT were illegal because clubs couldn’t say what kinds of data the league would consider. These rules also broke British competition law.

They also said that the Premier League’s decisions about two deals in 2023—one with First Abu Dhabi Bank and the other with Etihad Aviation group—were “reached in a procedurally unfair manner” and should be overturned.

City said in a statement that their claim had been successful. The Premier League, on the other hand, said that the ruling supported “the overall objectives, framework and decision-making of the APT system” and that the APT system was still needed.
