Christopher Ciccone, Madonna’s brother and a famous artist, died at the age of 63

Christopher Ciccone, an artist and Madonna’s brother, died at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

Christopher Ciccone died on Friday. He was 63 years old and was an artist, interior designer, and Madonna’s younger brother.

A representative for Ciccone said that the actor had been fighting cancer and that he died peacefully with his husband Ray Thacker and other loved ones by his side.

After starting out as a dancer and choreographer, Ciccone used his skills to help Madonna’s business grow by dressing her and giving her advice on her art.

He was in charge of music videos and shows as well, like Madonna’s “The Girlie Show” world tour in 1993. He was also in charge of the art for her Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990.

He then worked as an artist, interior, footwear, and furniture designer, and wrote the best-selling book Life With My Sister Madonna in 2008. This caused rumors that the brothers had a fight.

According to Ciccone, Madonna called him out as gay in an interview with The Advocate in 1991. He also said that Guy Ritchie, Madonna’s ex-husband, was homophobic. In 1991, she made the documentary Truth or Dare, which was about their mother. He said that was the “turning point” in their friendship.

“I kept it to myself, but I told myself, ‘OK, there are no limits now.'” “You know, my mom is now just a small part of her life story, and it hurts me,” he said on Good Morning America in 2008. “And that’s when my opinion of her changed.” I didn’t say anything about it.

He also said, “I think she’s a lonely person in the end, and it really is lonely at the top.”

At the time, Liz Rosenberg, Madonna’s longtime agent, said that the singer hadn’t read the tell-all but found it “very upsetting” that Christopher “decided to sell a book based on his sister.”

Rosenberg said, “I think she’s accepted the fact that they are not close and loving.” “And now that the book is out, I think that will make that impossible to happen again.”

In appearances in 2012, Ciccone said that they had made up, though. “From my point of view, our relationship is fine,” he said.

The Evening Standard also said that he and I are still in touch, even though I haven’t seen her in a long time.

We’re once again siblings. It’s better that I don’t work for her. It makes me so proud of her. It’s important to pay attention to her.

Should I ask, does she sound like Barbra Streisand? Not at all. She seems to be able to dance well. Most likely not. But all of her skills together make her great, and they have left a huge impact for her and for me through her. Okay, then God bless her.

Madonna wrote about Ciccone on Instagram later that same day. She talked about their life together and said that he was “the closest human to me for so long.” She also said that they “did not speak for sometime,” but when he got sick, “We found our way back to each other.”

“It’s hard to explain how we’re connected.” I think it started when we knew we were different and that people would judge us for not following the rules, Madonna wrote next to a slide show of pictures of Ciccone. “We held hands and danced through the crazy times of our childhood.” So much so that dance held us all together like sticky tape.

I was saved when I found dance in our small town in the Midwest. When my brother joined me, he was also saved. Christopher, who was also my dance teacher, made it safe for my brother to be gay, which was not something that was said or even whispered where we lived. When I finally got the guts to become a dancer in New York. My brother came after. After that, we held hands again and danced through the chaos of New York City!”

She also said, “We disobeyed the Roman Catholic Church, the police, the moral majority, and anyone else in power who stood in the way of artistic freedom!” My brother was with me the whole time. He was an artist, a painter, and a prophet. I liked him a lot. He had great sense of style. He had a short temper and sometimes used it against me, but I always forgive him. Through the best and worst times, we were there for each other. We always found each other again, held hands, and kept dancing.

It has not been easy these past few years. We hadn’t talked in a while, but when my brother got sick, we got back in touch. I did everything I could to keep him living as long as I could. He was in a lot of pain near the end. We closed our eyes, held hands, and danced again. All at once. I’m glad he’s no longer in pain. No one else will ever be like him. He’s probably dancing somewhere.

Ciccone designed the interiors of restaurants in New York City, Miami, and Los Angeles for businesses. He also designed the corporate boxes for London’s O2 arena and a high-end condo building in Miami Beach.

The furniture he designed for Bernhardt Furniture was used in the New York office of President Bill Clinton.

Chris Ciccone was born on November 20, 1960, in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the fifth child and third son of Madonna Louise and Silvio Patrick Ciccone. The city of Rochester, Michigan, was his home.

He moved to New York City and worked with Madonna while studying dance and going to college at Western Michigan and Oakland universities.

As he got older, he went back to Michigan to be close to family who work at his dad’s winery, Ciccone Vineyards, in Suttons Bay.

His wife is a British actress named Thacker, and they got married in 2016.

Besides Thacker and Madonna, Ciccone is also left by his father, Martin, Paula, Melanie, Jennifer, Mario, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joan Ciccone, which was Ciccone and Madonna’s grandmother, died of cancer in September. Their brother Anthony also died in early 2023.
