Ronaldo says, “I no longer care about individual records”

Cristiano Ronaldo says he is more focused on being a great team player for Saudi team Al Nassr than on getting more individual awards as his career winds down.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who is 39 years old, scored in Monday’s 2-1 win over Qatar’s Al Rayyan in the AFC Champions League Group B.

It was the club’s fourth straight win in all competitions since Stefano Pioli took over as coach from Luis Castro last month.

“It was a strong and difficult match like all the matches in the AFC Champions League, but the most important thing is that we created many chances and defended well to prevent the opponent from creating easy chances,” Ronaldo said at a press event.

No longer does it matter to me if I am the best or not; I don’t care about that.” I think it’s better for the team to win than for the players to score goals.

“Hearing records is nothing new to me; I no longer look for them.” Now, the most important thing for me is to have fun and help my friends and Al Nassr win.

With 35 goals, Ronaldo scored the most goals in a single Saudi Pro League season in May of last year.

A 2-1 win over Scotland in the Nations League last month was also the 901st goal scored by the Portugal leader.

The forward who used to play for Real Madrid, Juventus, and Manchester United said, “My goal against Al Rayyan was different and important because my father would have been happy with it if he was alive…. today is his birthday.”
