Russell Simmons is being sued for sexual harassment and is being accused of avoiding a deposition

Russell Simmons’s case of sexual abuse is still being looked at.

An unknown former Def Jam executive who took the business mogul to court accused him of not answering questions under oath.

Rusell Simmons is accused of raping the woman at his apartment while she worked at Def Jam Productions. Simmons helped to start the company in 1984.

Russell Simmons hasn’t replied to the questions in the case yet.

The plaintiff, named Jane Doe, said she asked the 66-year-old to go to a deposition via Zoom and answer some questions about the case while she was under oath.

The accused victim and her lawyer told the court that after talking with Simmons’ lawyers, “it does appear the parties are at an impasse on several important issues.”

She said that she had asked for the music producer and some former Def Jam workers to be questioned, but Simmons has not gotten back to her yet.

In Touch reports that the accuser thinks a deposition would “prevent him from having to answer the questions.” No, Simmons hasn’t agreed to do either one.

In her lawsuit, the accuser went into length about the alleged harassment.

Jane Doe’s lawsuit said that the music mogul raped her while they were in a business meeting at the music mogul’s Manhattan flat in New York.

“This lawsuit chronicles the account of how a woman who, while pursuing her career and passion as a music executive, was sexually harassed, assaulted, sexually battered, and raped by her boss, Russell Simmons,” she told the court.

As a famous, wealthy, and powerful person with a lot of sway, Simmons’ accuser said that his “abusive behavior has gone unchallenged for decades.”

She told him that they usually met at Simmons’s house in Manhattan, and that day, she asked him to look over a new video and give his approval.

At first, Russell tried to look like he was having fun by “wrestling” with Ms. Doe. The fight turned violent, and Russell pinned Ms. Doe down on a bed. The suit said.

The accused went on to say that she told Simmons to stop touching her, but he wouldn’t listen and ended up slapping her.

Because of the encounter, the plaintiff had low self-esteem.

Because she was “at the height of her career success at Def Jam, making award-winning videos for their biggest artists,” the accuser said she was “wrought with distress” after what happened.

She went on to say that she was dealing with “overwhelming anxiety, shame, humiliation, and crippling low self-esteem.” Also, she had panic attacks all the time and found it hard to go to the Def Jam “offices or to function in her leadership role.”

After being attacked, she finally had to quit the job she loved. She told “a small group of trusted friends and therapists about what had happened.”

Simmons denied all the charges and asked that the case be thrown out.

Because the former Def Jam employee “released her claims against Simmons” in a 1997 agreement, the music producer rejected all of the accuser’s claims. He also said that the plaintiff’s claims were time-barred.

Since he doesn’t live in the United States, he asked the court to throw out the case. Simmons said he lives in Bali and showed proof that he sold his house in New York in 2021 along with information about his bank account in Bali.

“Under the order for limited discovery,” his lawyer said, he didn’t need a deposition either. “We believe a deposition is unduly burdensome, duplicative, and meant to harass our client,” the lawyer said.

The case’s judge said last week that the accuser’s request for documents is “overbroad, burdensome, and go far beyond the limited discovery authorized.” On the other hand, the judge said that depositions should be allowed in the case.

Russell Simmons took action to get rid of his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons.

The music mogul actually asked the court earlier this month to make his ex-partner show up for an interview in New York and make private text messages between her and Tim Leissner public, along with her financial advisors, according to The Blast.

In order to help him prove his case, the co-founder of Def Jam Productions said he had the right to know the details of these talks. His lawyer said, “The only text messages Ms. Lee has produced appear to be messages sent or received by Defendant Leissner, not her.”

Simmons also said that Kimora “refused to show up to her deposition in New York.” In 2021, the ex-couple got into a court battle over shares in the energy drink company Celsius.

The executive in charge of records said that his ex-partner had used the money from the shares to bail out her ex-husband Leissner without his permission or agreement.

In the current sexual harassment case against Russell Simmons, the accuser did not say how much money they wanted in damages.
