The prosecutor says Big Jook, Yo Gotti’s brother, paid men $100,000 to kill Young Dolph [Video]
One of the men accused of killing Memphis rapper Young Dolph went on trial on Monday, and shocking new information about Yo Gotti’s brother Big Jook came out.
Young Dolph’s sister and his head of security were among the witnesses who spoke in court. Even though the head of security wasn’t with Dolph when he was killed, Dolph’s brother was seen on surveillance video being at the scene. Paul Hagerman led the prosecutors as they described the events that led to Dolph’s death. One of the suspects, Justin Johnson, was said to have been offered $100,000 by Big Jook to kill Dolph, who had a long-standing grudge against Gotti’s record company, CMG. Hagerman showed camera video and cell phone records that showed Johnson was at the crime scene.
Luke Evans led the defense team that tried to discredit the evidence of co-defendant Hernandez Govan, who they said was trying to trick Johnson for money reasons. Evans also didn’t believe the forensic proof. He said that Johnson wasn’t directly linked to the crime scene or the car that was used in the murder by DNA or fingerprints.
At the same time, Young Dolph’s family put out a statement saying they wanted justice, thanked the community for their support, and asked for privacy while the case goes through the court system. There is still hope in Dolph’s family that justice will be done for his death, which has had a huge effect on the Memphis community and beyond.
Jook was shot and killed in Memphis in January 2024 while at the funeral of a family member.
