Lebanese FA cancels all games because of the war between Israel and Hezbollah
All soccer games in the Lebanese Football Association’s (LFA) events have been pushed back because Israel hit Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah hit military bases in northern Israel on Tuesday.
Lebanese officials said that overnight bombings killed 558 people and hurt 1,835 others. Tens of thousands of people ran away to safety as fears of a full-scale war grew.
“Due to the current situation in the country, the executive committee of the Lebanese Football Association has decided to postpone matches of all tournaments to a date to be determined later,” the LFA said Tuesday.
Last week was the start of the 2024–25 season for the Lebanese Premier League. However, the national team has not played in Lebanon since last year because they were in Qatar and the UAE for World Cup trials.
Recently, Palestine’s home games have been played in Kuwait and Qatar. Israel’s Nations League home games are being played in Hungary.
