Barclays signs multi-year deal to provide more support for the Women’s Super League

British media say that Barclays has signed a multi-year deal worth more than 30 million pounds ($40.05 million) to support the Women’s Super League and the Women’s Championship. This is their most lucrative business deal to date.

The new deal gives the WSL and Women’s Championship a lot more money. Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL) took over these leagues in August.

The Football Association said the historic renewal is the biggest deal in British women’s soccer history. Barclays is doubling their investment to show their support for the women’s game even more.

The British bank also renewed its sponsorship of the men’s Premier League for another four years, making it the official banking partner until 2029. Its relationship with the FA was extended for an additional three years, ending in 2028.

This was Chelsea’s seventh WSL title. They won it on goal difference, and Emma Hayes was their coach at the time. The winners are now being coached by Sonia Bompastor, who is French.

Manchester City, who came in second place last year, tied Arsenal in their first league game. Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United all won their first games of the season.

$1 is equal to 0.7491 pounds.
