Polish Football Association declares financial assistance for clubs hit by flooding

In an effort to assist teams impacted by the greatest floods to hit central Europe in two decades, the Polish Football Association (PZPN) has established a fund worth over $450,000.

The third-largest city in Poland, Wroclaw, has sustained extensive damage, and the floods have claimed the lives of at least 24 people, including seven in Poland.

PZPN president Cezary Kulesza tweeted on X on Friday, “We have decided to donate 1.75 million Polish zloty to help the clubs affected by the flood together with the presidents of the provincial associations.”

First-class team Slask Wroclaw rescheduled their home match against Stal Mielec for Monday and used the stadium to gather donations for flood victims.

Along with visiting flood-affected communities to provide necessities, the team started a fundraising campaign for flood relief.

With Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stating that his nation might receive 5 billion euros ($5.59 billion) in aid, the European Union has committed to providing billions of dollars to support the region.
