Oman and coach Silhavy agree to part ways
The football association of Oman said Thursday that they had mutually agreed to fire Czech coach Jaroslav Silhavy, less than eight months after hiring him.
The Omani Football Association said in a statement on X that the Czech coach Jaroslav Silhavy and his assistant technical staff had decided to end the contract so that both sides could benefit.
“The Board of Directors of the Association extends its thanks to the coach for the period he spent as coach of our national team, wishing him success in his upcoming journey.”
In the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Oman has yet to earn any points in Group B. In the group, they lost their first two games, 1-0 to Iraq and 3-1 at home to South Korea.
Silhavy was hired by Oman on February 1, 2024, with a deal that ran until 2026.
Silhavy had coached several clubs in the Czech Republic before becoming the boss of his country’s national team in 2018. He led the team to the quarterfinals of Euro 2020 before stepping down after leading the team to the finals of Euro 2024.
