Martial, a former Manchester United forward, is expected to sign with AEK Athens as a free agent

Anthony Martial is going to join AEK Athens. He left Manchester United in June after nine years there. The Greek top-flight club said the former France forward will arrive later on Wednesday to finish the transfer.

British news outlets said the 28-year-old player had decided to join the 13-time Greek champions for free. He will make 2.5 million pounds ($3.30 million) a season, which will make him one of AEK’s highest earners.

AEK welcomed Martial in an Instagram post. Martial has won the Europa League and the FA Cup with United and scored 63 Premier League goals in 209 games for the club.

AEK is currently in first place in the Super League Greece with 10 points from four games. They are hosting Kallithea on Sunday and recently signed Erik Lamela, a playmaker who used to play for Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla.

$1 is equal to 0.7571 pounds.
