Miley Cyrus was served with a lawsuit regarding her Grammy-winning single, “Flowers”
Miley Cyrus is currently facing a lawsuit for copyright infringement in connection with her 2023 single, “Flowers.”
TMZ reports that Tempo Music Investments, who claim to own a share in the latter song, have accused the 31-year-old pop icon of stealing the melody, harmony, and chorus of Bruno Mars’ 2012 hit “When I Was Your Man.”
The lyrics are a paraphrase of Bruno’s song; however, Bruno was not required to be listed as a co-writer on “Flowers” due to the fact that the two songs were only similar in concept.
The chorus of Miley Cyrus is as follows: “I have the ability to purchase flowers for myself.” Inscribe my name in the ground. I converse with myself for an extended period of time. utter statements that you are unable to comprehend. I am capable of engaging in dance. And I am capable of holding my own hand. Indeed, I am capable of loving myself more effectively than you are.
Bruno sings in his track, “That I should have bought you flowers and held your hand…” Now, my child is dancing, but she is dancing with another man.
Tempo Music Investments maintains that Miley would not have received the accolades without “When I Was Your Man,” despite the fact that she won numerous awards for the song, including a Grammy for Record of the Year.
The company informed the outlet that “Flowers” would not exist without “When I Was Your Man” due to the combination and quantity of similarities between the two recordings.
The company is not only requesting monetary compensation from the former Disney star, but also requesting that she be prohibited from performing the song. Bruno, who is 38 years old, is not a party to the litigation against Miley Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus’ album “Endless Summer Vacation” included the track “Flowers.”
The disco pop song that topped the charts was rumored to be a dig at her ex-husband, 34-year-old actor Liam Hemsworth.
