Justin Timberlake accepts plea deal after June arrest

A plea agreement has been reached by Justin Timberlake regarding his driving while intoxicated (DWI) case.

The 43-year-old pop star was detained in June in Sag Harbor, New York, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. However, it has been reported that he and the prosecution have come to an arrangement whereby the initial charge will be dismissed and the “Mirrors” hitmaker will instead be punished for driving while impaired.

TMZ was informed by sources For the infraction, which is not considered drunk driving, Justin will have to pay a fine ranging from $300 to $500. The precise amount will be determined by a judge at a hearing this Friday, September 13, 24 when the plea agreement is formally presented to the court.

The “Social Network” star will still, however, have his driver’s license suspended in New York—a typical year-long penalty for refusing to take a Breathalyzer test when stopped by the police.

Edward Burke Jr., Justin’s attorney, refuted the accusation in a prior hearing and requested that the case be dropped completely, claiming that the arresting officer had made mistakes.

The musician had dinner with friends in The Hamptons before to his detention.

“Justin was out to dinner with friends and there was police cars stationed outside the restaurant, like there are most nights,” a source previously told DailyMail.com.

“They search for those who may have consumed alcohol and are departing after midnight.

“Justin was stopped shortly after leaving around 12:30 in the morning. There was no drama at the scene, and nobody was injured.

The “SexyBack” actor, who was stopped for driving while inebriated, later admitted to having “one martini.”

Timberlake reportedly told the cops, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home,” according to papers obtained by PEOPLE.

Nonetheless, the pop sensation was accused of failing to “stay on the right side of the roadway” and of running a stop sign in the police report.
