Pulisic asserts that Pochettino has the potential to induce a cultural transformation within the U.S. men’s team

Christian Pulisic, a midfielder, stated following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with New Zealand that the national team can be invigorated by the new United States coach, Mauricio Pochettino.

Ben Waine’s late equalizer in Cincinnati negated Pulisic’s goal, and the AC Milan winger expressed his optimism that Pochettino can impart the team’s necessary risk-taking edge and fierce mentality to compete at the highest level.

The Argentine coach, who departed Chelsea, an American-owned Premier League team, in May after a single season in command, will serve as the team’s head coach in anticipation of the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Since July, the United States has been without a permanent coach following Gregg Berhalter’s dismissal after his second tenure as head coach following an ignominious early exit from the Copa America on home soil.

“It is time to turn the page.” Pulisic addressed reporters late on Tuesday, emphasizing the necessity of elevating the situation.

“Currently, I am experiencing a sense of despondency; however, I am aware that there will be more favorable circumstances in the future.” It is my hope that Pochettino will establish a culture that is prepared to engage in conflict, take risks, and emerge victorious.

“The mentality and culture of the group are among the numerous elements that require modification.” I believe we possess the quality; however, I am aware that it will be the first item he seeks to modify.

Pochettino, a former manager of Tottenham Hotspur and Paris St Germain, stated that his decision to join U.S. soccer was not solely about football, but also about the voyage the country was on. He was unable to pass up the opportunity.

The United States will play friendlies against Panama on October 12 and Mexico three days later.
