James Earl Jones has passed away at the age of 93.

The actor, recognized primarily for his iconic vocal portrayal of the ‘Star Wars’ antagonist Darth Vader, also featured in the film ‘Field of Dreams’ and provided the voice for Mustafa in ‘The Lion King.’ He passed away at his residence in Dutchess County, New York, on Monday. (09.09.24)

In addition to his series of iconic roles, he was among the limited number of entertainers globally to have achieved the EGOT status, which encompasses the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards.

James has been awarded two Primetime Emmy Awards, one Grammy Award, and three Tony Awards, in addition to receiving the Honorary Academy Award.

The actor reprised his role as Darth Vader in the 2005 film ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ and in the franchise’s 2016 installment ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.’

The individual gained a new generation of fans by providing the voice for the character Mufasa in the animated film ‘The Lion King’ released in 1994, as well as in the hybrid live-action adaptation of the cartoon that was released in 2019.

Born on January 17, 1931, in Arkabutla, Mississippi, his notable film credits encompass the portrayal of a ruthless warlord in ‘Conan the Barbarian’, as well as appearances in the Eddie Murphy comedy ‘Coming to America’, ‘The Hunt for Red October’, and the 1992 film ‘Patriot Games’.

The couple had no children and finalized their divorce in 1972. A decade later, he entered into marriage with actress Cecilia Hart, with whom he fathered a son named Flynn. The subject expired due to ovarian cancer on 16 October 2016.
