Deshaun Watson Is Sued Again for Sexual Assault
Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, is dealing with a fresh legal issue. Watson was filed for intentional infliction of emotional distress, violence, and sexual assault in Houston on Monday. The case, which was submitted in 2021 under the alias “Jane Doe,” repeats the charges leveled against Watson in over 20 other lawsuits.
October 10, 2020 was the date specified in the lawsuit. The complainant claims that at first, Watson was unable to locate her residence and grew irrational, shouting into the phone that he “doesn’t have time for this.”
Jane Doe allowed Watson inside her flat when he ultimately reached it after she had finished getting ready in her bathroom. She realized he wasn’t answering, so she kept the restroom door open to speak with him. She was horrified to discover Watson laying facedown on her bed, fully nude, when she went to check. Then, he allegedly pointed to his buttocks and asked that she give him a massage.
Jane Doe attempted to defuse the situation by massaging Watson’s back instead because she felt terrified and intimidated, but Watson insisted on concentrating on his glutes. Watson allegedly turned over, flashing an erection, and started demanding a massage closer to his groin when she persisted in refusing.
According to the lawsuit, Watson then allegedly took Jane Doe, undressed her, and raped her sexually without getting her permission. The graphic descriptions depict Watson’s violent actions, which make Jane Doe feel helpless and afraid. She eventually found the strength to flee, taking a large weapon for self-defense and telling Watson to go, which he did with fury.
Most personal injury cases have a two-year statute of limitations; but, in Texas, cases alleging sexual assault are subject to a five-year statute of limitations.
Tony Buzbee, who also defended other women who sued Watson in 2021, is the plaintiff’s attorney.
There could be serious repercussions for Watson and the Browns from this new case. The Browns may terminate Watson’s contract and nullify his outstanding salary guarantees if the NFL suspends him for violating the Personal Conduct Policy. The NFL may also investigate Watson further.
