Yanga SC vs. Simba SC A new location for the Premier League Kariakoo derby

There has been a big modification to the much-anticipated Premier League first-round match between Tanzania’s top football teams, Simba SC and Young Africans.

The game, which was originally planned to take place on October 19 at the KMC Complex at Mwenge, Dar es Salaam, will now take place on the same day at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM.

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) made this alteration public yesterday along with a number of other changes to the Premier League schedule for the 2024–2025 season.

The TPLB provided a thorough explanation of the changes’ reasoning in a statement. According to a statement obtained by the Guardian, “The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has made improvements to the schedule of the NBC Premier League where it has scheduled dates for 14 games that did not have dates in the previous schedule and made date changes in four (4) games.”

The board has also moved the location of one match and modified the kickoff schedules for two other matches. The changes were brought about by Azam FC and Coastal Union’s recent expulsion from the CAF interclub competitions, which allowed their games to be rescheduled in the local league.

The statement went on to say, “The Tanzania Premier League Board’s website (www.ligikuu.co.tz) has the entire NBC Premier League schedule for the 2024–2025 season.”
