Bergwijn responds to Koeman’s criticism of his relocation to Saudi Arabia by retaliating

Steven Bergwijn, a Netherlands international, has responded to coach Ronald Koeman’s statement that his relocation to Saudi Arabia would result in him being disqualified from the Dutch team.

Koeman stated earlier this week that Bergwijn’s transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to Saudi club Al-Ittihad had resulted in his exclusion from the Dutch roster for the Nations League matches against Germany next Tuesday and Bosnia on Saturday.

“The book is essentially inaccessible to him.” Koeman stated during a press conference on Tuesday that he is aware of my perspective on this matter. “Your primary objective should be athletic rather than financial when you reach the age of 26.” These are the decisions that participants make.

Bergwijn, who has 35 caps for the Netherlands and a spell at Tottenham Hotspur, expressed his dissatisfaction with the coach, stating that he has no desire to continue working with him.

“I am fed up with an individual who intentionally portrays me in the media,” he stated in an interview with the Dutch daily De Telegraaf on Friday. “That is not the manner in which you treat your own players.”

“The national coach is acutely aware of the high level of competition in Saudi Arabia.” Alternatively, is it only permissible to perform this action at the age of 32? He inquired.

Koeman’s critical statements during the press conference caught Bergwijn off guard, according to him. “If he had been a dedicated national coach, he would have contacted me first.” Then, he would have had the opportunity to hear my perspective on the matter. It was now necessary for me to hear it on television. How is it possible for you to express such sentiments without having conversed with me? I am currently disappointed in him, despite the fact that we have shared many wonderful moments in the past.

Koeman is scheduled to hold an additional press conference on Friday, prior to the match against Bosnia. It is expected that the topic of Bergwijn will be discussed.
