R. Kelly Warned About Lack of Privacy by Prison Officer in Leaked Information Lawsuit

The prison officer being sued by R. Kelly has responded to his invasion of privacy claims with a strong rebuttal!

The defendant vehemently refuted all accusations made by the disgraced R&B star, asserting that no harm was incurred as a result of the incident. The prison officer has retired since the case became public.

R. Kelly has initiated a federal lawsuit against the government and prison officials, alleging that they disclosed his personal information to the blogger Tasha K.

Former prison officer seeks dismissal of R. Kelly’s lawsuit

The conflict between Kelly and the retired prison officer originated during his time at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. He was held in the facility after his well-known July 2019 arrest before being transferred to a facility in North Carolina last year.

Kelly alleged in his lawsuit that while he was incarcerated, prison staff accessed his emails, visitor records, and phone logs through the internal prison system. He suspected that the information had been sold to Tasha K, who then published it on her platform.

The retired officer strongly denied these allegations in court documents obtained by In Touch, stating that Kelly should not have expected privacy given his circumstances. They stated that he was unharmed and emphasized that their behavior was not extreme or deliberate.

With that being said, the defendant’s lawyer strongly urged the court to dismiss Kelly’s claims and deny him any compensation for his complaint. The guard’s response comes weeks after the government responded to the lawsuit.

Government representatives have previously criticized R. Kelly’s lawsuit

In a recent report, The Blast revealed that the government had no intention of opposing Kelly in court. The attorney addressed his claims of negligence and invasion of privacy.

“The United States is not held accountable for institutional liability resulting from potentially widespread negligent practices or policies.”

The government emphasized that they fulfilled their responsibility to care for Kelly, even though they acknowledged that their investigations uncovered a prison official who had shared sensitive information with Tasha K.

Uncle Sam adamantly denied any responsibility for the leak and requested the dismissal of the case. Kelly criticized the government in his lawsuit for its alleged failure to effectively manage and supervise Bureau of Prison (BOP) officers, leading to allegations of unchecked abuse of power.

In his lawsuit, Kelly criticized the government for supposedly being aware of the BOP officers’ crimes but failing to take any action to prevent them. He attempted to make them responsible for their negligence, as stated in part of his claims:

“The Defendant Unites States of America was aware that certain employees and prison workers had a habit of regularly accessing [Kelly’s] personal information from its systems and sharing it with third parties for financial gain, influence, or even just to cause trouble.”

Kelly contended that the actions of the prison officials and Tasha K not only violated his privacy but also had a substantial negative impact on his reputation. Their actions also caused him significant emotional turmoil.

R. Kelly remains steadfast in his ongoing battle for freedom

Kelly was involved in more than just the invasion of privacy lawsuit, as The Blast reported on his ongoing battle for freedom. In July, he sought to have his convictions for possession of child pornography and inducing minors to have sex dismissed.

His attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, made the argument that he was serving time for crimes that supposedly took place in the mid to late-1990s, before the PROTECT Act was enacted in 2003. A loophole was exploited in Kelly’s case, which made the statute of limitations indefinite for child sex crimes.

Bonjean stated that the PROTECT Act solely pertained to offenses committed subsequent to its enactment in 2003. Given the absence of any provision for retroactive punishment, it would be unjust to penalize Kelly for his charges from the 90s.

Exploring the Notorious Child Pornography Case Involving R. Kelly

Following 11 hours of deliberations in 2022, the jury reached a verdict, finding Kelly guilty on six of the thirteen charges. Specifically, three charges were related to child pornography, while the remaining three were for inducement counts. The highly publicized child sex trial commenced in mid-August, involving one of the victims who happened to be the singer’s goddaughter.

A disturbing video showed him mistreating the girl, who alleged that he had engaged in sexual activity with her multiple times. She claimed that their sexual encounters sometimes included other underage girls that he encouraged her to locate.

Despite the prosecution’s push for a lengthier prison term, Kelly received a total sentence of 31 years for his offenses involving child sex crimes, conspiracy, and enticement.

R. Kelly is currently incarcerated, awaiting the outcome of his appeal case, as he pursues legal action regarding the release of his private information.
