Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz are seen smiling in a behind-the-scenes look at their return to action as the film is postponed until January

‘Back in Action’ was supposed to premiere on Netflix on November 15, however that date has been changed to January 17.

Another sneak peek at their film Back in Action is being provided by Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz.

On August 28, Netflix revealed the movie’s January 17 release date on Instagram along with a fresh photo of Foxx, 56, and Diaz, 51, grinning together on the set.

The caption for the picture says, “Behind-the-scenes of us getting back to the action (and laughs)”. “@iamjamiefoxx and @CameronDiaz star in BACK IN ACTION premiering January 17.”

For both Foxx and Diaz, Back in Action is a significant forthcoming release; the actor from Django Unchained experienced a medical issue in April 2023 while filming in Atlanta, which caused a temporary halt to the film’s development. With the new picture, Diaz, meanwhile, makes her feature acting comeback for the first time since 2014’s Annie, which also starred Foxx.

Following his recovery from the medical issue, Foxx and Diaz were spotted filming further sequences for the film as recently as January 2024. Netflix initially unveiled movie footage on February 1st as part of a longer video promoting the film’s forthcoming releases for 2024. There was a time when the film was supposed to come out on November 15.

An official synopsis for the film was posted on Tudum. “Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown,” the line reads.

Jamie serves as the crew’s cheerleader in a sense. Regarding her collaboration with Foxx, Diaz stated, “Everyone loves him,” when she spoke on Molly Sims’ Lipstick on the Rim podcast in December 2023. “We have so much fun on the set with him, and he’s just a professional on every level.”

The action-comedy is one of Diaz’s three next projects as she returns to acting after welcoming their second child together in March with her husband Benji Madden.

According to IMDb, she will be returning to her voice role as Princess Fiona in Shrek 5, which comes out in 2026, and she also has roles in the upcoming movie Outcome. Foxx, on the other hand, is working on several projects and has hinted that he would soon be doing stand-up comedy again.
